Youth Shinty

Youth sessions are held on Sunday afternoons at the Bught Park, from 12 noon, usually lasting about an hour, more or less depending how cold it is and how much fun we're having!!!

Sessions are attended by at least one fully qualified Shinty Coach, however we usually aim to have 2 or three in attendance as well as some of our older players to help out.

If your child fancies trying out Shinty but you don't have the equipment, don't worry, we can provide a stick and helmet to borrow for the session.  We aim to make the sessions enjoyable for the kids while teaching them the basic skills of the game.  Currently we have kids of all levels attending, so don't worry if your child has never played before, he/she won't be the only one!!

If the weather is particularly cold or wet, sessions will be cancelled. Sessions are also put on hold during the school holidays depending on availability of coaches. If you are ever unsure whether the session may be off please text or call Tina on 07845521011.

Tina Marshall

I have been involved with Inverness Shinty club on and off for 20 years now!! I played under 14s for the club way back in 1989 when they only took pictures in black and white!!!  Ensuring the future of the club and helping to put in place a structured youth set up is something I am deeply passionate about.

My job is to liase with the coaches. Organise competitions and hopefully get the kids as much shinty as possible.

Any enquiries regarding youth fixtures, events, games etc should be directed to me.

Ewen 'Crossall' McKinnon

Crossall has a great shinty pedigree. One of the finest players to come from Skye (when he was young and fit), he is now concentrating his efforts into coaching and encouraging the Children of the Gaelic School to take up and enjoy our national sport.

 Under 17s
Earlier in the summer we were all disappointed when we had to pull out of the under 17 leagues due to a lack of players.  However due to Boleskine pulling out of the Development League an oportunity came up for us to take part in their place.  As it turned out this was a great move for us and on Saturday, Graeme MacMillan, Youth Director of the Camanachd Association, Presented the 2009 under 17 Development Trophy to Inverness.

Squad L~R, Ronan MacMillan (12), Reece Munro (15), Connor Golabek (15), Gordie MacKenzie (17), Fraser Heath (15), Adam MacMaster, captain (17) , Andrew Grace (17), Thomas Fraser (15), Graeme MacMillan (15) & Cameron MacMillan (8).  Missing from the squad are Johnny Fowler (14) and Rikki Allan (15)

I would like to take this oportunity to thank all the boys for their enthusiasm and commitment over the last season.  As a team they have all be a fantastic bunch of guys to coach.  Myself and the rest of the club are extremely proud of them all!!  Thanks guys!!

Tina!
