Aims To promote: • Health gains, both physical and mental from sporting activity; • Increased social interaction for fun and personal development; • Safe and accessible environment for sporting activity; • Interest and participation in the sport within Inverness and the surrounding area; • Interest and participation in the coaching of the sport in the designated area.
Child Protection The Inverness Shinty Club believes that child protection is of the utmost importance. Each coach within the club has a Level 1 Coaching Qualification and is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check. The club has adopted the Highland Council Child Protection Policy in addition to the Camanachd Association Child Protection Policy. Youth Development In order to foster the development of shinty in the Inverness area the Inverness Shinty Club has a strong youth development policy. The club is involved in schools shinty and maintains a presence in various schools thought Inverness. Regular training sessions are held at the Bught Park on Sundays comprising of children from several schools and various age groups. Each player is taught to be disciplined and respectful and learns how to be a team player through focus and positive attitude. The coaches involved in the clubs youth development programme are very dedicated and hard working and understand that the children that we train are the future of shinty.
