26th April 2008
Strathdearn Cup
Inverness 2 v 2 Kinlochshiel
Kinlochshiel won on penalties.
19th April 2008
Inverness 0 v 5 Glenurquhart
The 1st half was a very one sided affair . The town started strongly and were unlucky not to have scored in the 1st minute. They had several corners but nothing came from them. Glen settled down and started to take control of the midfield , their hitting was crisper and ball after ball was fed to their wing forewards who were giving their opposite numbers a torid time . It was only a matter of time before they scored , followed by another and another . Inverness were fortunate to be only 3 - 0 down at half time. Anyone who thought the game was over at half time didnt appreciate how stong the wind towards the Ice Rink end was and now it was time for Inverness midfield to feed their forwards. The Glen defence stood strong until Inverness were awarded a penaly , however this was not converted. Inverness were now on top, but its goals that count and thats what Glen did against the run of play in the 70th minute and again to score their 5th with the last hit of the ball . On the day , the Glen forewards were lethal & missed many good chances in the 1st half but Inverness to their credit didnt give up and had they scored their penalty with the wind in their favour and their 2nd half possesion could've sprung a surprise, but alas they left themselves a mountain to climb at half time.
Thanks to Peter Gow for the report.
Beauly 4 v 2 Inverness
12th April 2008
Inverness - 1 Beauly - 5
It took Beauly half an hour to open the scoring at the Bught with goals from David
MacLean and Roger Cormack in the 30th and 32nd minute - but not before the home side
had created two or three chances in front of goal and indeed hit the woodwork in the
25th minute.
At half time with the score 2-0 Inverness still looked capable of getting back in
the game, but a quick goal from Sean Stewart emphasised the quick stick work of the
Beauly forwards. By the 75th minute Beauly had added two further goals from Roger
Cormack and Sandy Tulloch.
Inverness heads might have gone down at this stage but instead they rallied their
play and pulled a goal back in the 80th minute when young substitute Craig Hazle
scored from close range.
Report by George Campbell
5th April 2008
Inverness 3 Kinlochshiel 2
Inverness opened this game at a furious pace and it only took David Neilson 10
minutes to score his first goal for the club. Kinlochshiel however soon found their
rhythm and for most of the first half laid siege on the home goal. On the 40th minute following a well taken free hit,
Gordy Gray broke away on the left side and fired in a great goal to put Inverness
two up at half time.
Within three minutes of the restart Gordy Gray put the home side three up when he
sneaked in at the far post to volley a cross into the net. Kinlochshiel regrouped
and introduced Neil Fraser and his presence created problems for the Inverness
defence. In the 60th minute he pulled back one goal and in the 82nd minute he set up
Keith Macrae for their second goal.
The home side held out to the final whistle to bring their points total to four for
this campaign - already more than last years total! - Keep up the good work Calum &
co!
Thanks to George Campbell for providing the match report!

29th March 2008
Newtonmore 8 v 0 Inverness
Inverness 2 v 3 Lochbroom
24th March 2008
Hoping everyone within and outwith the club are having a very relaxed and happy easter!
No games to report from last Saturday, both fell foul of the weather. Hopefully this week will see a return to action. The first team are due to travel ton the Eilan for a MacTavish cup first round tie with the mighty Newtonmore, who are flying high in the Premier league right now. The second team are down for a home tie against Lochbroom. Both matches are down for a 2.30pm start.
Just a quick note to say get well soon to Liam Girvan, one of our up and coming stars who has been in and out of hospital since the end of last week. I am sure there must be an attraction there in the shape of a young good looking nurse, eh Liam?! Anyway, best wishes from us all wee man, we're all thinking about you and hope your back on form soon :)

Skye 1 v 3 Inverness
Inverness 2 v 4 Strathglass
8th March 2008
Ardnamurchan 0 v 5 Inverness
1st March 2008
The start of the new season has turned out to be a bit of a wash out for the Inverness sides... The first team game at Drum called off due to an unplayable pitch. The second team match at home to Drum, has also fallen victim to an unplayable pitch. The second team manager made a pitch inspection this morning and found three quarters of the field to be covered in water!!!!
Pre Season Friendlies
Saturday 16th February
The first team Travelled down the A9 to face Tayforth at Perth. By all accounts this was a pretty one sided affair with the town team heading back North with a comfortable 5 - 0 victory in their pockets. There were 2 goals a piece for Aaron MacMaster and Iain 'Copper' MacDonald. Fraser MacDonald completed the goal scoring list.
At the Bught park, the 2nd team took on Newtonmores 2nd string. This again was a very positive run out against a decent Badenoch side. Once again Craig Hazle turned in a brilliant performance, and drew comments from the committee present who believe he is definately a big plus for the future of the club. Kenneth Loades filled the full back role nicely, while the forward line was bolstered by the ever youthful Stevie Munro, who's encouragement of the youngsters in the team was invaluable, as was his contribution of two goals. David higham, playing for the 2nd team as he was unable to travel to Perth, scored the 2nd of the three goals during a manic scramble on the Newtonmore goal line.

Saturday 9th February
The first of the pre season warm up matches resulted in Disappointing results, but encouraging performances by the two town squads. The First team were beaten 2 - 0 at Cannich by Strathglass, in a match that they felt they deserved to come away with something from.
The Second team faced a Fort William side, that, while lacking in numbers, certainly weren't short on skill and experience. The 3 - 0 Score, in favour of the Lochaber side certainly didn't tell the whole story. In particular, brilliant performances from Kenneth loades, Fraser Heath and Craig Hazle to name but three. There was also an impressive Town debut for Garry MacKay (formerly of Kilmallie) before a thigh strain forced him to come off.

2008 Season ~ Changes in Byelaws
The following are changes in byelaws made by the CA for the 2008 season.
Scheduling of Draws for Cup Competitions
Except for the Camanachd Cup competition (where the draw for a round will be made on or after the scheduled date for matches in the preceding round) the Byelaws relating to the Balliemore Cup, Sir Wm. Sutherland Cup, MacTavish Cup, Bullough Cup and Strathdearn Cup will be amended to read: “The competition shall be conducted on the basis of an open draw throughout, with draws for all the rounds up to the final being made prior to the start of the season”
Postponement of Scheduled Matches due to a Death
Byelaw 3.2.1 is amended to read: “No scheduled match shall be postponed unless: The scheduled pitch is unplayable due to weather; or One of the competing teams has experienced the death of someone directly related to an individual who would be playing or directly involved in a scheduled match and whose funeral service is arranged for the day of the match or, in exceptional cases, after it.”
Venues for Cup Semi-Finals
The paragraph in Byelaw 3.8 referring to semi-finals being played on neutral grounds is deleted. Byelaw 3.8.1 replaces as follows: “Semi final ties, with the exception of the Camanachd Association Challenge Cup, will be played at the ground of one of the two competing teams (to be decided by the toss of a coin once the teams are known. This could be conducted by telephone conference provided a third party is present at the location where the coin is being tossed). In the event of the ground being unplayable the tie will be switched to the home venue of the second named club in accordance with Bye-Law 3.2.6, or to a neutral venue agreed and proposed by the competing clubs and which is acceptable to the CEO or delegated substitute. All costs relating to these ties, including those of the match officials, must be met by the two competing teams with the first named club responsible for payment on the day of the match. The Camanachd Association Challenge Cup semi finals shall be played on a neutral ground chosen by the Association. All costs relating to these semi finals must be met equally by the two competing teams, including those of the match officials, with the first named club responsible for ensuring payment is made on the day.”(The decisions relating to the Celtic Society Cup and MacAulay Cup will be made known following discussion between these bodies and the Camanachd Association).
All Cup Games being Played to a Finish in the First Match
The section in Byelaw 3.8 relating to replays in the Camanachd and Sutherland Cups is deleted. It is replaced by the following Byelaw 3.8.2, (which currently already applies to all other cup competitions): “In all cup competitions, a winner shall be decided in the first game. No replays will take place. When a match results in a draw at full time, extra time will be played and a penalty play-off will take place if necessary.”
Transfer of a Game due to a Pitch being Unplayable
Byelaw 3.2.6 will now include the Camanachd Cup competition. The Byelaw is amended to allow flexibility to arrange an alternative venue for a match that cannot be played at the scheduled venue. The Byelaw shall now read: “In the case of all competitions, both cup and league, if the ground of the ‘home’ team is unplayable, the CEO, or delegated substitute, will authorise the transfer of the match to the ground of the ‘away’ team, or to a neutral venue agreed and proposed by the competing clubs and which is acceptable to the CEO or delegated substitute, or any other ground considered appropriate that may be available. The final decision shall be that of the CEO or his or her delegated substitute. This decision can be made at any time up to the point at which it would no longer be reasonable for the team or teams to reach the alternative venue before the time scheduled for the start of the match. Failure by a team to abide by the decision of the CEO, or delegated substitute, will result in that team forfeiting the fixture. For the avoidance of doubt, the meaning of ‘reasonable for the team or teams to reach the alternative venue before the time scheduled for the start of the match’ in the context of the preceding paragraph, is the time it would take to travel from one place to the other, change into playing attire and warm-up. This meaning obliges the team or teams to have made appropriate contingency plans for travelling whenever it seems possible that a ground might be unplayable. The failure to reasonably foresee that the ground might be unplayable will not be a defence against forfeiture of the match.”
Cup Final Locations In 2008 the venues for the Bullough, Strathdearn and Sutherland will be chosen once the finalists are known. The venue for the Balliemore will be agreed in advance of the competition being played.
Failure to fulfil a fixture
This relates to fixtures in the main developmental leagues in the men’s game; i.e. South Division 2 and North Division 3.A rule, in which teams are deducted points and ultimately penalised financially for failing to fulfil fixtures, was introduced into some leagues in 2007. A new rule, inserted as Byelaw 3.5.2, will now award the points for the match within development leagues, to the ‘innocent’ team, but will not result in points being deducted from the ‘defaulting’ team. The wording of the law applying to these leagues will be: “Failure to play a scheduled League fixture in South Area Division 2 or North Area Division 3, other than by reason of postponement as provided for in these rules, shall result in the match being declared won by the team not responsible for causing the fixture to be unplayed. That team shall have two points added to its league points total. The failure to fulfil 3 matches in a season shall result in the team failing being fined the sum of £100, which shall increase by £10 on each subsequent failure. If two teams are equal on points and goal difference at the end of the season, they shall compete against each other in a play-off match to decide who shall be champion. This ‘play-off’ match shall take place a neutral venue and shall be played to a finish; i.e. extra-time and a penalty play-off being utilised if necessary”
Club Membership ~ players
On Tuesday 22nd January 2008, the Committee discussed the subject of Club Membership fee's for players within the club. It has been decided that each player will be asked to pay a one off £10 membership for the 2008 season (£5 for concessions). This fee covers the Camanachd Association fee which must be paid for each player we register.
After being put to the vote it was decided that ALL players should pay their £10 Club Membership fee, and anyone who does not pay the fee will not be registered to play.
All fee's should be paid to team Managers or a member of the Committee BEFORE 8th February 2008.
