Under 17s
Earlier in the summer we were all disappointed when we had to pull out of the under 17 leagues due to a lack of players.  However due to Boleskine pulling out of the Development League an oportunity came up for us to take part in their place.  As it turned out this was a great move for us and on Saturday, Graeme MacMillan, Youth Director of the Camanachd Association, Presented the 2009 under 17 Development Trophy to Inverness.

Squad L~R, Ronan MacMillan (12), Reece Munro (15), Connor Golabek (15), Gordie MacKenzie (17), Fraser Heath (15), Adam MacMaster, captain (17) , Andrew Grace (17), Thomas Fraser (15), Graeme MacMillan (15) & Cameron MacMillan (8).  Missing from the squad are Johnny Fowler (14) and Rikki Allan (15)

I would like to take this oportunity to thank all the boys for their enthusiasm and commitment over the last season.  As a team they have all been a fantastic bunch of guys to coach.  Myself and the rest of the club are extremely proud of them all!!  Thanks guys!!

Wednesday 23rd September 2009

Following a 2 week break, the club swing back into action this weekend, with both the first and second teams in action.   The first team take on Kinlochshiel in NLD1, sure to be a very hard encounter.  The second team host Ardnamurchan at the Bught park.  As with last season, Ardnamurchan will hoping to avenge the defeat they suffered at home from the young Town side.   Both games are scheduled for a 2.30pm start.

Last Wednesday saw six a side school action in the form of the Robertson Cup, at Drumnadrochit.  The competition was well attended and the Trophy eventually headed back to Lochaber high School.  However it was good to see three Inverness Schools represented at the event, with established Charleston, being joined by  Inverness High School and Culloden Academy.   Credit must be given to the coaches of the latter two, Fraser MacKenzie (IHS) and Sorley MacDonald (CullA), for the fine work they are doing introducing kids to our sport in the Inverness Area.

From Saturday 26th September, we will be running an extra training session for kids on a Saturday morning.   The session will run from 10am-11am. All children are welcome to attend.

5th June 2009

In the last few months, as a Club, we have had increasing worries regarding not only our future, but the future of Shinty at the Bught Park.  It is looking likely that come August, at least for a three game period,  the Park will be become the home of Inverness City Football Club.  This of course has implications for us as a Club, as we would not have access to the Park which we have called home for over 80 years, and a Park which has been a fine Shinty Venue for over 100 years.

Below is a copy of the letter our Club has sent to the the City Provost, all Council members, Duncan Cameron of the Camanachd Association and All Clubs in the Inverness area.  However we feel this may also be of interest to others in the wider Shinty community.

31st May 2009

Provost Jimmy Gray
Inverness Town Hall
High Street
Inverness

Dear Provost Gray,

I am writing to you in relation to the proposed use of the main park at the Bught Park, Inverness for Inverness City Football Club.

The Bught Park is rich in the history of shinty with the first recognised organised shinty match being held on the Bught Park, Inverness between near rivals Glen Urquhart Shinty Club and Strathglass Shinty Club, on 13th February 1887, a match which is continued to this day.

Inverness Shinty Club was formed in the same year, 1887, and played at various grounds within the town of Inverness at Culcabock, Longman, Victoria Park and Lower Kessock Street.

In 1923 fields at the Bught were offered to the Town Council by farmer William MacBean for the establishment and use of a permanent shinty pitch.

This was accepted by the Town Council of the time and the Bught Park has been the home ground of Inverness Shinty Club since that day.

The Bught Park is integrated into the history of the National sport of shinty, used in the first Camanachd Cup Final in 1893, and many memorable finals thereafter.

The 100th Final of the Camanachd Cup was held on the Bught in 2007 which drew a crowd in excess of 5000 persons to the Bught Park and was broadcast upon live BBC television.

To our disbelief and dismay we have been informed that the most famous pitch in the history of the game of shinty is to be infiltrated by a football club.

Having been the venue for many a prestigious shinty match since the game of shinty began we cannot understand why the Bught Park should be put under such a threat.

The present head grounds-man Mike MacLeod and his staff are producing a first class playing surface of which the City Council must be proud when viewed via the live television coverage of the large number of finals and Internationals which are organised by the Camanachd Association and ourselves.

How would the Bught Park look on a television screen with a football pitch superimposed? Is that what you want?

When the Inverness City Council’s Bught Park is mentioned in the same light as the renowned Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland, the Council must realise how fortunate they are to have such a facility on offer for any shinty use.

The main park at the Bught is the ONLY DESIGNATED shinty pitch in the city, but how many designated football pitches are there?

Given that the main park of the Bught is being proposed for the use of football due to the fact that the sport of cricket is being played in the Northern Meeting Parks between April and October surely the fact that shinty is being played on the Main Park at the Bught between March and November should be used as a similar restraint.

Surely the Council is there to support Highland culture and what could be more important than the fostering of the historic game of shinty.

We ask all officials of the all Highland Council to think hard and reverse their decision to allow football on the Bught Stadium pitch.

Shinty deserves the facilities it has enjoyed since 1887 and the park which Inverness Shinty Club has made their home over the last 86 years.

We look forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

4th March 2009

This week   will see   the start of the 2009 Shinty Season.   So far preparations have been going reasonably well for both first and second team squads, despite the disappointment of the lack of friendlies due to the bad spell of weather in February.

Stevie Munro is hopeful that new squad members, including Dickie MacKenzie and Ross MacPherson,   will help to add depth to his squad which despite missing Drew Howie this season, following his departure to play for Fort William, will still have key figures from past seasons, including the vast experience of Callum McLeod and Davie Glass to name but two.   We would also hope this season to see the emergence of a few more young players into the first team on a more permanent basis. This season North Division Roddy will be arguably the most competative league in shinty.   Not only as there will be so many teams closely matched, but with the return of Lovat and Strathglass   following their relegation from the Premier League, there will be alot more local rivalry, which I am sure all our players will be looking forward to!!

The second team squad will be a bit of an unknown quantity this season. Alot of young blood and a couple of fresh faces, including the new manager!! One thing is for sure however, with Allan McLeod at the helm, there will not be a lack of passion on the sideline (and possibly on the pitch) willing his team along.

This week we look forward to entertaining Skye Camanachd at the Bught Park in North Division 1.   Hopefully we will manage to produce a start to the season on par with last years victory in Skye.   The second team make the long journey to Aberdeen, an encounter which will no doubt prove to be a very strong test for the young side.

Finally.....

All at Inverness Shinty Club would like to extend our good wishes to one and all for the forthcoming season.   We extend warm welcomes to all our opponents, supporters and referees, visiting the Bught over the next few months.   Above all we hope that everyone gets through the season fit and well.....   Remember, we all have to go to work on a Monday.

21st February 2009

Both teams finally managed to get pre-season warm up matches today, after having all the matches arranged for the previous two weeks cancelled due to the weather.

The first team made the short trip to Beauly and were on the wrong end of a 5 - 0 defeat, though it should be noted that there were a number of late call offs among the squad.

The second string travelled to   Badenoch to   face the Newtonmore   reserve team.   This was the first time new Manager Allan MacLeod was able to see his squad in action, and it brought a heavy 1Roddy - 0 defeat for the young side.

Saturday 12th July 2008

NLD3

Inverness 1 v 4 Aberdeen University

The story of where this game was lost lies in the first half.  Poor holding of the ball in the middle of the park resulted in alot of undue pressure on the defence which resulted in goals for the visitors.   The second half was very different. The midfield aided by the introduction of Liam Girvan at half time rallied and came into the game. Pressure eventually paid off when Kenneth Loades found the back of the Aberdeen net.  Unfortunately there just wasnt enough in the tank to turn things all the way around.

It has to be said that the Town side missed the leadership qualities of George Johnstone in the middle and Clive Girvan in the defence.  On the plus side, youngsters Adam MacMaster in goal and Fraser Heath at Half forward had outstanding games.  Young Mr Heath, arguably being the Town sides more effective player on the day.

 Thursday 10th July 2008

NLD1

Beauly 0 v 3 Inverness

Both teams were evenly matched, and both sides had an equal ammount of chances.  However Inverness shots were more threatening, while the home team had several shots that were well saved by the Town goalie. Inverness scored the only goal of the 1st half when a Fraser Macdonald pass gave Scott Watson the chance he needed to hit the back of the net.  Midway into the 2nd half a speculative shot from Davie Glass found the net and with 10 minutes to go Stuart Macrae scored the 3rd . Overall 2 much needed points for the visitors but the game was much closer than the result suggests.

Camanachd Cup

Inverness 1 v 3 Glenurquhart

The town despite their recent disappointing results had high hopes for this fixture following their previous round mauling of Beauly, and indeed the Inverness side started off extremely brightly and placed the Glen defense under alot of pressure.  The pressure paid off in about 15 minutes courtesy of a stunning goal by Liam Girvan, who was  playing on the forward line for a change!   This seemed to wake up the Glen and they started to get into their stride, however they always seemed to find a town opponent on their toes.  Shortly before half time they made the scores even and had an opertunity to go into the second half leading when they were awarded a penalty shortly before the break. Stuart MacRae was not to be beaten however, and pulled of a stunning save from the well struck spot hit.

The second half remained pretty much as the first. However the town couldnt convert any of their pressure into clear shots, while the Glen seemed to be finding their feet infront of the goals.  Indeed it was the Drum side that added two more goals to their tally for the day and made it through to the Quarter final draw.

Over all, the performance was not too shabby from the town. Davie Glass led well in the middle of the park and his constant shouts of encouragement and determination clearly kept the boys going.  David Neilson also turned in a good performance in his first appearance at Full back.   Over all a game that despite the score, the boys should be proud of.

North league Division 3

Lochcarron 2 v 1 Inverness

Tuesday 10th June 2008

A squad of Seven under 17s took part in the Strathdearn six a sides at the bught park in Inverness.  Inverness had what on paper appeared to be a very tough group, consisting of Lovat, Skye, Lochaber and Newtonmore.  This actually turned out to be an incredibly hard fought group that stayed close throughout. Despite losing their first match 1 - 0 to lovat, the young town squad lifted themselves and managed to Draw with Newtonmore and Beat Skye 1 - 0, unfortunately the win required against Lochaber didnt happen.

Overall, the team performed well and certainly didnt disgrace themselves. Adam MacMaster was particularly outstanding in the town goals and deserves a special mention.

Squad was, Adam MacMaster, Michael Lightbody, Gordon MacKenzie, Liam Girvan, Graeme MacMillan, Fraser Heath and Tom MacKenzie.

North League Division 3

Lochbroom 1 v 4 Inverness

The town decided to take advantage of this fixture being against one of the newest clubs in the area and sent a remarkably young team to Ullapool to face Lochbroom.   Several of the more senior squad members were asked to stay at home to make way for a side containing no less than 5 under 17s.

The young side repaid the confidence shown in them and helped along by the senior guys that did travel, George Johnstone, Clive Girvan and Stevie Munro, they looked nothing short of impressive throughout.

3 goals from Iain MacDonald and one for Drew Howie for which WeeG Macmillan is claiming most of the credit, made sure of a great result and 2 valuable points coming back to Inverness.

21st May 2008

Following the announcement on Saturday 17th may that Callum Mcleod was to step down from the role of first team manager with immediate effect due to work commitments, the club are now pleased to announce that Stevie Munro will be taking the helm, for an interim period, initially until the end of the season.

We would like to thank Callum for his commitment and dedication to the role of manager over the last two seasons and wish him well in his new professional role.

At this time we would also like to extend our support and good wishes to Stevie as he takes on the role of first team boss, and hope that all the players will continue to work hard and build on the recent good results and performaces they have enjoyed.

18th May 2008

Following his accident on the 17th, when his car was struck by a train on the level crossing down the road from his home,  the club are delighted to report that Graeme MacMillan is up and about again and expected to leave hospital tomorrow 19th May.

Amazingly he didnt sustain any major injuries, and despite being trapped in the car for almost two hours escaped with only a dislocated right shoulder and a few cuts and bruises.  This is nothing short of a miracle as the car was struck on the drivers side!

Graeme would like to thank everyone who has sent him good wishes and who has asked after him.  He would especially like to thank Joey Smith and Boleskine for their understanding and willingness to postpone yesterdays second team match and the various Boleskine players who throughout the day were keeping in contact with some of the town boys and looking for updates on his condition.  He is also extremely grateful to Callum and the first teams boys for a result that lifted his spirits no end.   Last but certainly not least, he would like to extend his thanks to all the emergency service personnel,  the Lady conductor from the train, Mr Dunfy from Bunchrew, the Doctors, nurses and the others who were present and helped him in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

17th May 2008

Camanachd Cup 2nd Round
Inverness 4 Beauly 2

The home team produced their best form of the season with a strong second half
performance to win a place in the last sixteen of the Camanachd Cup and a home draw
against Glen Urquart on the 14th of June.
With the wind advantage in the first half Beauly took the game to the Inverness
goal but did not capitalise on their pressure until the 31st minute when a
deflected shot from Barry Macdonald deceived the home keeper. At the other end the
home forwards were beginning to find their form and in creating a number of
scoring opportunities gave notice of what was to come in the second half. Manager
Calum Macleod must have been quite confident to turn around only one goal down.
The second half totally belonged to Inverness and their centre line and forwards
had Beauly on the rack for the full 45 minutes. David Higham scored equaliser in
the 56th minute and by the 75th minute the home side had established a two goal
lead with goals from Arran MacMaster and a second from David Higham. Playing their
best shinty of the season it was no surprise when Inverness increased their lead
in the 83rd minute with a well taken goal by the tireless Gordy Gray.
Beauly tried to reorganise their team but by now it was all over for them although
they did score a second goal in virtually the last hit of the match by subsitute
Steve Maclean.
  Well done the Inverness boys!

Thanks to George Campbell for the Match report!

Inverness 2 v 2 Kinlochshiel

Kinlochshiel won on penalties.

19th April 2008

Inverness 0 v 5 Glenurquhart

The 1st half was a very one sided affair . The town started strongly and were unlucky not to have scored in the 1st minute. They had several corners but nothing came from them. Glen settled down and started to take control of the midfield , their hitting was crisper and ball after ball was fed to their wing forewards who were giving their opposite numbers a torid time . It was only a matter of time before they scored , followed by another and another . Inverness were fortunate to be only 3  - 0 down at half time.  Anyone who thought the game was over at half time didnt appreciate how stong the wind towards the Ice Rink end was and now it was time for Inverness midfield to feed their forwards. The Glen defence stood strong until Inverness were awarded a penaly , however this was not converted. Inverness were now on top, but its goals that count and thats what Glen did against the run of play in the 70th minute and again to score their 5th with the last hit of the ball . On the day , the Glen forewards were lethal & missed many good chances in the 1st half but Inverness to their credit didnt give up and had they scored their penalty with the wind in their favour and their  2nd half possesion could've sprung a surprise, but alas they left themselves a mountain to climb at half time.

Thanks to Peter Gow for the report.

Beauly 4 v 2 Inverness

12th April 2008

Inverness - 1 Beauly - 5

It took Beauly half an hour to open the scoring at the Bught with goals from David
MacLean and Roger Cormack in the 30th and 32nd minute - but not before the home side
had created two or three chances in front of goal and indeed hit the woodwork in the
25th minute.
At half time with the score 2-0 Inverness still looked capable of getting back in
the game, but a quick goal from Sean Stewart emphasised the quick stick work of the
Beauly forwards. By the 75th minute Beauly had added two further goals from Roger
Cormack and Sandy Tulloch.
Inverness heads might have gone down at this stage but instead they rallied their
play and pulled a goal back in the 80th minute when young substitute Craig Hazle
scored from close range.
Report by George Campbell

5th April 2008

Inverness 3 Kinlochshiel 2

Inverness opened this game at a furious pace and it only took David Neilson 10
minutes to score his first goal for the club. Kinlochshiel however soon found their
rhythm and for most of the first half laid siege on the home goal. On the 40th minute following a well taken free hit,
Gordy Gray broke away on the left side and fired in a great goal to put Inverness
two up at half time.

Within three minutes of the restart Gordy Gray put the home side three up when he
sneaked in at the far post to volley a cross into the net. Kinlochshiel regrouped
and introduced Neil Fraser and his presence created problems for the Inverness
defence. In the 60th minute he pulled back one goal and in the 82nd minute he set up
Keith Macrae for their second goal.

The home side held out to the final whistle to bring their points total to four for
this campaign - already more than last years total! - Keep up the good work Calum &
co!

Inverness 2 v 3 Lochbroom

24th March 2008

Hoping everyone within and outwith the club are having a very relaxed and happy easter!

No games to report from last Saturday, both fell foul of the weather. Hopefully this week will see a return to action. The first team are due to travel ton the Eilan for a MacTavish cup first round tie with the mighty Newtonmore, who are flying high in the Premier league right now.  The second team are down for a home tie against Lochbroom.  Both matches are down for a 2.30pm start.

Just a quick note to say get well soon to Liam Girvan, one of  our up and coming stars who has been in and out of hospital since the end of last week. I am sure there must be an attraction there in the shape of a young good looking nurse, eh Liam?!  Anyway, best wishes from us all wee man, we're all thinking about you and hope your back on form soon :)

Skye 1 v 3 Inverness

Inverness 2 v 4 Strathglass

8th March 2008

Ardnamurchan 0 v 5 Inverness

1st March 2008

The start of the new season has turned out to be a bit of a wash out for the Inverness sides... The first team game at Drum called off due to an unplayable pitch.  The second team match at home to Drum, has also fallen victim to an unplayable pitch.  The second team manager made a pitch inspection this morning and found three quarters of the field to be covered in water!!!!

Pre Season Friendlies

Saturday 16th February

The first team Travelled down the A9 to face Tayforth at Perth. By all accounts this was a pretty one sided affair with the town team heading back North with a comfortable 5 - 0 victory in their pockets.  There were 2 goals a piece  for Aaron MacMaster and Iain 'Copper' MacDonald.  Fraser MacDonald completed the goal  scoring list.

At the Bught park, the 2nd team took on Newtonmores 2nd string. This again was a very positive run out against a decent Badenoch side. Once again Craig Hazle turned in a brilliant performance, and drew comments from the committee present who believe he is definately a big plus for the future of the club. Kenneth Loades filled the full back role nicely, while the forward line was bolstered by the ever youthful Stevie Munro, who's encouragement of the youngsters in the team was invaluable, as was his contribution of two goals.  David higham, playing for the 2nd team as he was unable to travel to Perth, scored the 2nd of the three goals during a manic scramble on the Newtonmore goal line.

Saturday 9th February

The first of the pre season warm up matches resulted in Disappointing results, but encouraging performances by the two town squads.  The First team were beaten 2 - 0 at Cannich by Strathglass, in a match that they felt they deserved to come away with something from.

The Second team faced a Fort William side, that, while lacking in numbers, certainly weren't short on skill and experience. The 3 - 0 Score, in favour of the Lochaber side certainly didn't tell the whole story. In particular, brilliant performances from Kenneth loades, Fraser Heath and Craig Hazle to name but three.  There was also an impressive Town debut for Garry MacKay (formerly of Kilmallie) before a thigh strain forced him to come off.

2008 Season ~ Changes in Byelaws

The following are changes in byelaws made by the CA for the 2008 season.

Scheduling of Draws for Cup Competitions

Except for the Camanachd Cup competition (where the draw for a round will be made on or after the scheduled date for matches in the preceding round) the Byelaws relating to the Balliemore Cup, Sir Wm. Sutherland Cup, MacTavish Cup, Bullough Cup and Strathdearn Cup will be amended to read: “The competition shall be conducted on the basis of an open draw throughout, with draws for all the rounds up to the final being made prior to the start of the season”

Postponement of Scheduled Matches due to a Death

Byelaw 3.2.1 is amended to read: “No scheduled match shall be postponed unless: The scheduled pitch is unplayable due to weather; or One of the competing teams has experienced the death of someone directly related to an individual who would be playing or directly involved in a scheduled match and whose funeral service is arranged for the day of the match or, in exceptional cases, after it.”

Venues for Cup Semi-Finals

The paragraph in Byelaw 3.8 referring to semi-finals being played on neutral grounds is deleted. Byelaw 3.8.1 replaces as follows: “Semi final ties, with the exception of the Camanachd Association Challenge Cup, will be played at the ground of one of the two competing teams (to be decided by the toss of a coin once the teams are known. This could be conducted by telephone conference provided a third party is present at the location where the coin is being tossed).  In the event of the ground being unplayable the tie will be switched to the home venue of the second named club in accordance with Bye-Law 3.2.6, or to a neutral venue agreed and proposed by the competing clubs and which is acceptable to the CEO or delegated substitute. All costs relating to these ties, including those of the match officials, must be met by the two competing teams with the first named club responsible for payment on the day of the match. The Camanachd Association Challenge Cup semi finals shall be played on a neutral ground chosen by the Association. All costs relating to these semi finals must be met equally by the two competing teams, including those of the match officials, with the first named club responsible for ensuring payment is made on the day.”(The decisions relating to the Celtic Society Cup and MacAulay Cup will be made known following discussion between these bodies and the Camanachd Association).

All Cup Games being Played to a Finish in the First Match

The section in Byelaw 3.8 relating to replays in the Camanachd and Sutherland Cups is deleted. It is replaced by the following Byelaw 3.8.2, (which currently already applies to all other cup competitions): “In all cup competitions, a winner shall be decided in the first game. No replays will take place. When a match results in a draw at full time, extra time will be played and a penalty play-off will take place if necessary.”

Transfer of a Game due to a Pitch being Unplayable

Byelaw 3.2.6 will now include the Camanachd Cup competition. The Byelaw is amended to allow flexibility to arrange an alternative venue for a match that cannot be played at the scheduled venue. The Byelaw shall now read: “In the case of all competitions, both cup and league, if the ground of the ‘home’ team is unplayable, the CEO, or delegated substitute, will authorise the transfer of the match to the ground of the ‘away’ team, or to a neutral venue agreed and proposed by the competing clubs and which is acceptable to the CEO or delegated substitute, or any other ground considered appropriate that may be available. The final decision shall be that of the CEO or his or her delegated substitute. This decision can be made at any time up to the point at which it would no longer be reasonable for the team or teams to reach the alternative venue before the time scheduled for the start of the match. Failure by a team to abide by the decision of the CEO, or delegated substitute, will result in that team forfeiting the fixture. For the avoidance of doubt, the meaning of ‘reasonable for the team or teams to reach the alternative venue before the time scheduled for the start of the match’ in the context of the preceding paragraph, is the time it would take to travel from one place to the other, change into playing attire and warm-up. This meaning obliges the team or teams to have made appropriate contingency plans for travelling whenever it seems possible that a ground might be unplayable. The failure to reasonably foresee that the ground might be unplayable will not be a defence against forfeiture of the match.

Cup Final Locations In 2008 the venues for the Bullough, Strathdearn and Sutherland will be chosen once the finalists are known. The venue for the Balliemore will be agreed in advance of the competition being played.

 Failure to fulfil a fixture

This relates to fixtures in the main developmental leagues in the men’s game; i.e. South Division 2 and North Division 3.A rule, in which teams are deducted points and ultimately penalised financially for failing to fulfil fixtures, was introduced into some leagues in 2007. A new rule, inserted as Byelaw 3.5.2, will now award the points for the match within development leagues, to the ‘innocent’ team, but will not result in points being deducted from the ‘defaulting’ team. The wording of the law applying to these leagues will be: “Failure to play a scheduled League fixture in South Area Division 2 or North Area Division 3, other than by reason of postponement as provided for in these rules, shall result in the match being declared won by the team not responsible for causing the fixture to be unplayed. That team shall have two points added to its league points total. The failure to fulfil 3 matches in a season shall result in the team failing being fined the sum of £100, which shall increase by £10 on each subsequent failure. If two teams are equal on points and goal difference at the end of the season, they shall compete against each other in a play-off match to decide who shall be champion. This ‘play-off’ match shall take place a neutral venue and shall be played to a finish; i.e. extra-time and a penalty play-off being utilised if necessary”

Club Membership ~ players

On Tuesday 22nd January 2008, the Committee discussed the subject of Club Membership fee's for players within the club.   It has been decided that each player will be asked to pay a one off £10 membership for the 2008 season (£5 for concessions).   This fee covers the   Camanachd Association fee which must be paid for each player we register.

After being put to the vote it was decided that ALL players should pay their £10 Club Membership fee, and anyone who does not pay the fee will not be registered to play.

All fee's should be paid to   team Managers or a member of the Committee BEFORE 8th February 2008.

Under 14s

On Saturday 3rd November, the under 14 squad Travelled to play Skye at Kyleakin.   The match was played on an extremely heavy pitch, which didnt lend itself well to some of the stick play a few of the town boys seemed to be desperate to play.   The game however, turned out to be a very evenly matched affair.

Despite being   behind all of the match   the Inverness boys managed to pull   back and left the island with a respectable 4-4 draw.

George Phimister Memorial Trophy, 28/10/2007

In changable conditions, Inverness, Lovat, Beauly, Glen Urquhart and of course Strathglass took part in The George Phimister Memorial Trophy.   The competition was set up in the memory of the Starthglass Stalwart following his untimely death following a long illness.

Teams of nine in the under 15 age group took part.

From the outset the Inverness team were impressive and remained unbeaten throughout the round robin stages.

In the Semi final the town side beat Beauly 5 - 3.

In the final, Inverness played Lovat, in what was without a doubt the best match of the day. At full time the score was 2 - 2 and the game went to sudden death.   After 7 minutes, and alot of near misses from the town side, Lovat managed to sneak the winner.

It has to be said that the town side were extremely unlucky and in no way disgraced themselves, and comment was made following the match by some on the Lovat support that the better team had lost.
